Many Veterans are a Step Away from Homelessness

Remnants of Oklahoma City’s frontier heritage aren’t hard to find here. The Sooner State’s capital city is celebrated for its cowboy culture, driven by oil and gas revenues. Downtown, you can visit a memorial and a museum commemorating the 1995 bombing that claimed 168 lives. Local veterans are also still struggling to rebuild their lives. Many of them are just a step away from homelessness, often because of poverty. Lack of transportation is one of the main causes.
